About 370 women inmates were transferred by bus from Detroit House of Correction to the Huron Valley Women’s Center in Plymouth. Supt. Four Runs For Firemen In Saline Area
The Saline Area Fire Department made four runs last week. On Aug. 4 crews responded to a Bemis Rd false alarm and extinguished a fuse box blaze at Maple Village Apartments. Early Monday they tackled a stove fire at 3309 Clover Dr in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Julius Cohen, scorching kitchen cupboards and causing smoke damage. Monday afternoon a Buick in the A and P parking lot caught fire due to a faulty ignition, prompting a response.

Tranquilizer theft and park burial spark police alert
Police warn of promazine danger after a horse tranquilizer was stolen from a Milan veterinarian and buried in Wilderness Park. Two eight ounce bags were unearthed. one bag may still be circulating in Saline. A 16 year old boy was arrested for receiving stolen property.

Saline Board Names New Assistant Principal for Middle School
The Saline Area School Board selected Terry G. Walters as the new assistant principal for Saline Middle School after reviewing about 80 applicants. Walters holds a B S in mathematics education from Michigan State University and an M S in educational administration from Eastern Michigan University. He previously worked in the Dexter system as a 6th grade teacher and 8th grade math teacher, plus roles as advisor for student council, football and basketball coach, yearbook adviser, assistant principal, and athletic director. He has held leadership roles with the Michigan Jaycees and received the Outstanding Young Educator's Award in 1971.
