The City Council approved the final plat for 42 homesites in Colony Estates on Saline Waterworks Rd marking a major step toward phase one. Engineer Jack Snyder said models may appear this season with actual home building likely next spring after utility plans and county approvals.

Easy Entry hit for the second time in the month. Gross Farm Equipment reported about $3,800 in losses from a night raid last Friday. Burglar alarm remained untriggered as entry was gained by front door glass. Floodlights were disconnected to work unseen. Deputy Profit and owner Bob Gross investigated with clerk Joyce Jedele. A previous raid three weeks earlier stole a garden tractor. No arrests by press time.

Cowboys and cowgirls travel to Saline for the 42nd Annual Jaycee Rodeo at Washtenaw Farm Countryside Grounds August 12 13 and 14. Inmates Prepare to Depart Huron Valley Center Final Construction
One of the final construction workers Harvey Howard a Dexter locksmith and carpenter helped finish the Bemis Rd facility as 360 women convicts are slated to transfer from Detroit House of Correction. The move will close Plymouth detention home after staff arrival from Deboco. An August 16 open house will discuss alert and fire protection agreements with Pittsfield officials.

Police Deliver Case to Prosecutor in Witten Fatality
Saline police finish the Sweet Witten auto crash investigation and will hand over evidence to the County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday morning. No arrest warrant decision yet. Dennis Sweet of Ann Arbor and Debbie Witten of Saline collided on E Michigan Ave near McDonalds on July 28. Witten died on July 5 from injuries.

Vandal sprayed white chemical on Rosemont cars
Rosemont residents report three cars sprayed with a white chemical from a fire extinguisher during the night of July 30. One extinguisher was found on a nearby lawn as police investigate. Other vandalism included a damaged bicycle on Knollwood Ct and a busted headlight on a 1977 Ford. A staple-gun was reported stolen from Dan Sirones of Film Central.

Miss Saline pageant organizers Sandi Kind and Beryl O Farrell replace self nomination with community nominations.
