Bright Promise For The Fair With Expanded Premiums

Community Fair organizers report added premium money and new exhibit classes to attract stronger entries. The event, open to all locals, features livestock tents, poultry rabbits and prize categories, with a tractor wagon-back contest, pet shows, costumes and a football game between Flat Rock and the local team. The fair runs October 4-5 with evening programs and a park finale.

Local Horse Races and Boy Scout Notes at Saline Park

Albert Lange leads three running events at Saline park including a boys under 14 race, a girls 15 and under race, and an open race for all riders. A straight track and a following riding class judging, plus an annual pulling contest, provide thrills for riders and spectators.

In a candlelight ceremony at Macon Methodist church Miss Roberta Johnston daughter of Clinton resident Mr. Robert Johnston and Mr Willard Wiedmayer son of Saline residents Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Wiedmayer united in marriage Saturday evening September 22. The Rev Casper Foltz officiated before about 200 guests. The altar featured palms and candles with white gladiola arrangements. The bride wore a white jersey gown with fingertip veil and beaded tiara. She was given in marriage by her father.

Pastoral Conference at Trinity Church Reported

The Southeast ern Pastoral conference met at Trinity Lutheran church on Sept 25 26 with delegates’ report from the last synodical convention in New Ulm Minn. Doctrinal papers an exegesis of first Corinthians twelve were on the program. Ladies Aid provided meals. Rev L Westendorf Monroe led Holy Communion service. Rev H Buch East Ann Arbor preached the main sermon. The conference drew strong attendance.

Saline Fades to Ypsilanti Central in Rough Game

Saline lost 40 to 0 to Ypsilanti Central last week in a hard fought game marked by rough play. Saline sustained two injuries Ken McAllister and Russ Wiedmayer expect to be ready in two weeks. Chelsea visits tomorrow at 3 30 with coach Lyons predicting a Saline win. Dave Duff was elected captain for the team.

Rally Day at St Pauls Church Observed Sunday

Rally Day will be observed at St Pauls Church on Sunday at 10 oclock. Sunday school pupils and workers staff present a program reviewing mass activities and promoting pupils to new departments. Cradle Roll exercises songs Bible memory work flannelgraph study junior choir, attendance recognition, pastor meditation, and consecration of church school workers.

Saline Woman's Club Opens 1945 46 Season with Meeting

Saline Woman's Club holds its 1945 1946 season kickoff on Tuesday October 2 at 2 30 pm at the home of Mrs Charles Osgood West Henry Street. President Mrs J N Lewis says the meeting honors all past presidents and features musical numbers a program and a talk by Dexter resident Mr Harry Steinbach on his pitcher collection.
