Fred Gillen Survives Burma Plane Crash and Fire
Fred Gillen describes a near fatal Burma air crash on September 9. The aircraft, crew chief on daily flights to support the 14th Army, lost a left engine and crashed soon after takeoff. One Indian serviceman was killed, several injured, Gillen suffered broken ribs and bruises, while the pilot and co-pilot had minor injuries.
