A Saline meeting set up the Saline Community Chest with nine directors serving staggered terms from local groups including the Woman's Club MOMS City Council Rotary Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Officers elected were Alwin Gross chair Merritt Martin secretary and Charles Schultz treasurer. The 1944 goal is $2000 with $1500 assigned to county groups and at least $500 for local needs.

The Saline Woman's Club held its first meeting of the club year at the Methodist Church with new president Mrs. Walter MacArthur hosting. Guest speaker Wallace Watt of the Child Guidance Institute spoke on youth delinquency and a new Washtenaw County Child Guidance Clinic in Ypsilanti. A reception for local teachers followed, and plans were announced for the next meeting at the public library with librarian Grace Orwick.

Community Fair Plans Emerge At Merchant Farmers Meeting
Local merchants and farmers formed a non profit to back the Future Farmers ann ous school and receive state funds for fair premiums. Officers elected include President A. E. Hagen and Secretary Charles Osgood. A larger livestock show, a pet exhibit, parade, horse pulling contest, floats, and evening programs are planned with prizes for top point earners. Volunteers urged to prepare entries.

Mrs Maxine Bellmore wife of Raymond Bellmore died in University Hospital Ann Arbor at 4 am Sunday after a long illness. Born Sept 13 1916 in Macon she lived in the community all her life. She is survived by husband son Duane her mother Mrs B H Sarvey sisters and brothers. Funeral Wednesday at House Funeral Home with Rev C E Foltz, burial Riverside cemetery. Relatives and friends from Chelsea Manchester Saline Ann Arbor Wayne Detroit Petersburg Macon and Adrian attended. Sewers to be flushed Friday and Saturday Oct 13 14.
