The Washtenaw County Tuberculosis Association sponsors a Christmas seal sale through the local school to raise funds against the Great White Plague. A year ago the school hosted tuberculin tests with x rays and positive reactions noted among 195 pupils, highlighting the community effort in this humanitarian work.

Washtenaw County chapter of the American Red Cross reports a disaster relief committee ready to act and programs aiding ex servicemen and civilian relief. Courses in first aid and life saving certificates are expanding with 90 enrollment in current home care classes and plans for continued training at area pools and beaches. Accident prevention outreach targets 12 950 school children with home and farm hazard checks and new emergency first aid stations at five gas stations with trained staff.
The Willing Workers annual dinner was held at Miss Fannie Friis home on Thursday November 19 with about sixty five people including members and families. Harold Gray of Valley Farms shared his World War I experiences and spoke on wartime cruelties and his conscientious objection leading to imprisonment. Rev Roy Miller from the Federated church offered remarks. A short business meeting followed with December plans announced at Mrs Kenneth Gordons home with Mrs Walter Gordon assisting. Roll call and a Christmas verse completed the gathering.

Michigan railroads spent over 9.84 million dollars in 1936 to expand and modernize, led by track work totaling 4.73 million and bridge and building projects at 2.63 million. Over 900 freight cars were added, 3,500 rebuilt or upgraded with safety features, and more than twenty passenger cars received air conditioning. November payrolls show an 8 percent rise in railroad employment.
The Department of Public Instruction allocates 4,621,919.53 for primary school interest to districts, totaling 3.30 per census child. Dr. Eugene B.
