A school cooking unit offers a student run meal with scalloped cabbage carrot strips bread and butter and chocolate cornstarch pudding planned for tomorrow. Freshmen prepare breakfasts of varying types and a football banquet with favors is planned. An exhibit Friday night showcases a canning display as the Sleuth Eavesdropper signs off.
Saline High School Education Week Featured Exhibits
In 1921 Education Week ran November 9 to 15 with school programs. Saline High School held a week of classes and concerts including a Tuesday program with classes for grades 4-12 and a school auditorium program featuring the High School band, Girls and Boys Glee Clubs, and a junior speech play. An Armistice Day program followed and a Friday fair showcased a Social Studies tour de monde with items from 21 countries and Civil and World War trophies. Loans came from Mrs. Unterkircher and Mrs. Moore. Countries represented included China Japan Hawaii India Alaska Newfoundland Labrador Italy Czechoslovakia the Balkan States Estonia Belgium France Germany Scotland Ireland Holland Samoa Turkey Norway and the United States. Notable artifacts included old Chinese tapestries and a 450 year old Japanese print.

Saline Observes American Education Week With Strong Attendance
School patrons and friends joined in Saline during American Education Week. Regular classes Tuesday drew large parent attendance, followed by a musical program in the auditorium. Friday’s school fair exhibits and student work drew even larger crowds. Superintendent T. M. Clay commends the community for its support and hopes the practice continues. Noah Webster spent 21 years from 1807 to 1828 compiling his American Dictionary.

Saline chapter of the American Legion led by Commander Carl Moehn shared in delivering 3x5 foot flags to numerous schools across the state on Armistice Day. Teams including Mr. and Mrs. Don Burkhart and several others visited Platt, Stone, Sutherland, Valentine, Fosdick, Pittsfield Townhall, Lodi Center, Lodi Plains, and more, with Lodi Plains noted for an especially strong program. Flags were produced by W. P. A. workers in Grand Rapids and Bay City.
