Saline Senior Class Play Set for Nov 22 and 23

The Saline senior class presents a three act family comedy The audience will see Pat McDougal as Peggy Morgan and Pat Teachout as Betsey with a wide cast including Jean Begole Joan Begole Bob Rathson Mary Prout Earl McTaggert Larry Lange Martha Faust Gwen Harris and Barbara Klump. Peggy must stay silent for 48 hours while her friend Gwen schemes and parents seek help. The show runs Friday and Saturday at 8 15 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Saline Teachers Attend Fifth Business Education Conference

Saline high school teacher Dorothy Davenport joined Eastern Michigan College officials and other area business teachers at the fifth annual conference on streamlining teaching techniques. Scout Troops hold swimming party and camping craft event

Members of Brownie Troop 6 led by Otty Charles and Anne Coe's Girl Out troop 2 attended a swimming party at the W CA pool last Wednesday. Wendy Wild and hois Sutton of troop 112 assisted with a song fest and field trip. The Scouts demonstrated camp fire skills as part of badge work while the infant son of Mr and Mrs Gene Oxford was returned to St Joseph Hospital under observation.

Saline Police Recover Stolen Truck and Report B&E at Legion Hall

Police recovered a stolen International truck taken from Lansing on November 16 1957 after a driver woke Harold Eberle seeking gas. A second man in the cab could not be identified. Also reported: a separate theft of a pickup from Ruben Dresselhouse’s property and a break in at Saline American Legion Hall with $150 stolen.

Local Author's New Book Out Early In March

Mrs. Robert Tefft of 1880 Text ile Road spent a day in Detroit for the Children's Book Fair at the Historical Museum. She authored the four child’s book Merrie Maple, due in March from E P Dutton Co. She met editor Mrs Sharon Banningan and other Dutton authors and discussed a new teen age work with hopeful encouragement on the plot.

Deer Hunters Return From Mio Trip With Big Bucks

Waldo Gross and James Henning of the Detroit Edison office in Bellville returned from a deer hunting trip to Mio Michigan over the weekend. Gross bagged a 100 pound dressed deer at 9:00 on the first morning while Henning took his on the second day.

Local Boy To Appear On TV Milkey Twin Pine Party

Eight-year-old Charles McCormick of 8858 Saline Milan Road will appear on Milkey's Twin Pine TV Party at 10:00 am Saturday on WXYZ Channel. He is winner of the Twin Pine Sunshine Smile contest. Saline Promotes Christmas Program Backed by Three Groups

A city effort named Promote Saline aims to boost the local business sector during Christmas with Howard Sommers of Central Michigan College advising. The Saline Rotary Club will hand out candy for Santa’s Nov 30 downtown visit, with help from the Saline Junior Chamber of Commerce, JCC Auxiliary, and Saline Kiwanis on events through December. Saline teen recordist Jim Austin debuts on Mercury

James Austin, 19, son of Mr and Mrs George Austin of Saline, has a Mercury Records single available in stores. The Eastman Rochester Symphony Orchestra features his trumpet solo on Three Pieces by Kent Kennen. He previously soloed with the Oratorical Society Orchestra in Corning New York and is a current Eastman School of Music student, and a 1955 Saline High School graduate.

City Council approves funds for Christmas decorations

The City Council authorized $150 to supplement the Chamber of Commerce’s $100 for new Christmas street decorations. Public Works will install them and have them lit by Nov. 29 for Santa’s visit on Nov. 30, as the council also certified the election results per the city charter.

Thanksgiving worship starts at 10 am at St. Paul Church with Rev. Robert D. Richards as guest speaker uniting Methodist Federated and St Paul congregations. Trinity Church hosts a 10 am service and an 8 pm social hour in the church basement on November 26 for the youth. St James Church offers a 9:30 am service on November 30.
