Thomas Shurtz Dies After Illness at 81 in Saline
Thomas M. Shurtz of 102 E Henry St Saline died Friday afternoon after a long illness. He was 81 born June 39 1868 in Lenawee County. He married Florence Beasley January 12 1897 in Adrian. Survived by wife, a daughter Mrs Harold Halsey of Tampa a son Donald of La Crescenta a brother Henry of Manchester 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He owned Manchester Handle and Turning Co in Saline until 1944. Funeral Monday 2 pm at Lockwood Funeral Home with Rev R R Feuell. Burial Brookside Cemetery Tecumseh.

Stolen Car Found In New Orleans And Saline Thefts
A 1950 Ford owned by Ralph Smith of Shady-Side Trailer Park Ypsilanti was stolen from A M Chevrolet garage on November 3 and recovered November 8 in New Orleans. Two 17 year olds are held in New Orleans in connection with the theft. Saline police recovered a stolen car with a flat tire parked in front of Gable Brothers store the same day. The abandoned car belonged to a Dearborn resident and was returned the same day. FBI now taking over jurisdiction. Also, county engineer proposal defeated.
