Delegates Sign for Big Health Meet in Michigan

Opening session of the second annual conference of health officers and public health nurses is set for November under the Michigan Department of Health and Michigan Public Health Association. Attendance is already strong with 103 health officers and 30 nurses pledging, more than half of the 1921 total. Also notes classified items and printing services offered by The Observer office.

Saline Woman's Club Reports On Convention and Home Visits

The Saline Womans club met at Mrs. Wil Sturm's home on Tuesday October 31 with good attendance. Members discussed forestry and civic improvement efforts and welcomed Miss Wheeler back as an active member. Delegates reported on the county convention in Ann Arbor and the State Federation session in Flint, including tours of the Home for the Feeble Minded in Lapeer and the Home for the Deaf and Dumb. The next meeting, November 14 at the Methodist church parlors hosted by Mrs. Miller, will feature Prof. W B Henderson on Human Nature and the Changing Order. A shadow social to benefit the Hammond School will be held Friday evening November 17 at W N Eastons home.

Informal Reception Planned for Saline School Patrons

Saline school invites patrons and teachers to an informal reception from 7:30 to 8:15 PM Monday November 13 at the high school. A 5:15 PM program features a paper on The Mothers of Yesterday and Today by Mrs C C Wheeler and a talk on From American Social Problems by Mrs C F Unterkircher. A discussion on What Our Children Are Doing Out of School is led by G A Curtiss, with music by Miss Jones and a playlet Almost a Tragedy of Tongues featuring several named participants.

Washtenaw Plans Big Dairy Alfalfa Drive

Washtenaw County launches a Dairy Alfalfa campaign from Nov 20 to Dec 7 led by H. S. Osler with the county agricultural agent and Michigan Agricultural College extension specialists. Eighty eight barnyard meetings on farms ensure every farmer can attend within three miles, plus nightly roundup gatherings. The effort, part of a statewide push, promotes alfalfa, cow testing, better sire networks, feeding and breeding to improve dairying.
