Third annual convention of University Press club held at Michigan Union

The third annual convention of the University Press club drew nearly two hundred publishers and employees to the Michigan Union in Ann Arbor over Thursday through Saturday. Sessions were lively with papers read and discussions. stenographic records will be printed as a pamphlet for attendees and others. The club’s growth is shown by attendance rising from three weekly publishers two years ago to about forty this year.

Three Days Sale of Household Articles at Humphrey Estate

Auction and sale notices list a household sale at the former Nissly store on West Michigan Avenue for the estate of Mrs. Jennie R. Humphrey. Rural school officers urge support for training and resources

At the October meeting in Ann Arbor, rural school officers praised State Normal College and urged state funding for recreation materials, field assistants for county schools, and training for rural leaders. They named Walter J. Rawson and others to leadership roles and sent resolutions to legislative candidates. Lost dog noted at end.

Kent County to Host Dairy Alfalfa Campaign Start

Kent County will host the state dairy alfalfa campaign starting November 6 for two weeks under the Michigan Agricultural College. Clinton County just completed a drive. other counties including Washington and Genesee will follow. The program features barnyard meetings within three to four miles of each farmer’s farm to boost alfalfa acreage and efficiency.

Opening number of the winter lyceum at Liberty theatre

J Coates Lockhart and his Scotch Lassies opened the winter lyceum at the Liberty theatre Monday evening before a fair audience. The season pre­sale lags but the Monday crowd suggests adequate receipts from remaining numbers and single admissions. Program featured vocal and instrumental selections and readings. Next attraction arrives November 30. Season tickets for four future numbers priced at 1.25, reserves at Wheeler's drug store, balance season seats 40 cents.
