Saline Area has reached 46 percent of its Community Chest target with $3237 in hand and an $6987 goal. Workers push November 7 deadline and remind donors donations can be directed to Saline or out-of-town employers. Man Injured While Coon Hunting in Lodi Township

Samuel Bruckner aged 54 of 20 Le Blance Street River Rouge fractured his left ankle while coon hunting Saturday night on a farm between Pleasant Lake and Textile Roads in Lodi township. He was aided by two companions and taken to St Joseph Hospital in the Lockwood ambulance after he fell crossing a fence.

Saline Chamber outlines Christmas plans and volunteers

The Saline Chamber of Commerce announced chairmen and committees for a Christmas promotion led by general chairman Ray Hunt. Teams handle publicity, Santa’s Mail Box, bulletins, Dollar Days, Window Shoppers Day, Santa’s Prizes, and more. Council Discusses Outdoor Ice Rink and City Planning

The council debated placing an outdoor ice rink at Saline High School or tennis court sites. A tennis court flood plan with partial water would be simplest. They formed a Planning and Rezoning Committee of seven volunteers led by Bob Moon to present city planning proposals.

Accident in Ann Arbor man drives off after sneeze

Joseph Vincent Lyons of 4986 Saline Rd Ann Arbor lost control while turning near the Mercantile store after a sneeze driving his 1956 Halone Chevrolet. He crashed into the storefront, backed out through the window, then drove three miles away on two flat tires before being brought back by Don Heller. Lyons was intoxicated at the time.

A regional study led to establishing the Huron Valley Girl Scout Development Committee to reorganize councils and zone troops. Members include Mrs Wyeth Allen Miss Theresa Burleigh Ralph Adams and Agnes Peoples from Saline. The new council is expected to take effect in September 1958.

Halloween Mischief Turns Patches Of Town Into Pranks

Halloween night saw pumpkins across Saline and Ann Arbor roads and odd stunts such as a mock Police Dept office with no permit. A high school dance drew a crowd while minor vandalism like firecrackers and bottle tossing drew police ire. Sheriff’s deputies pursued a report of a stolen outhouse from T J Kelly of 7172 EB Michigan Ave Pittsfield Township.

Ann Arbor Third Grade Visit Saline For Community Study

A Dick en school class from Ann Arbor toured Saline to study rural life and local industry. Students met farmers at Steele and Sexton farms and visited shops, city hall, a volunteer fire department, and a nearby newspaper office.
