War Trophies From Germany Reach Saline Homes

Saline residents receive a collection from Cpl. Rudolph Feldkamp of the Anti-Tank Co. 30th Infantry Seventh Army. Items include a German three barrel shotgun with a special cartridge stock, steins with military scenes, briar pipes, jewelry, a travel clock, and a Berlin wrapped display, illustrating lingering militarism in German memory. Delegates to the National Council are Paul Uber, Ira M. Smith, EB H. Chapelle, and G. P. Steimle. New officers take office Sept. 1 with district chairs Lloyd Pearsall Leigh Anderson and Dr. James P. Scout Council Elects Leaders at Camp Newkirk

Herbert P. Wenger of Ann Arbor was chosen president of the Washtenaw-Livingston Boy Scout Council at the annual election held last Thursday night at Camp Newkirk. Elected vice presidents were M. Coehn of Ann Arbor, Paul Wiehaus of Chelsea, Alwin Gross of Saline, Robert Parks of Howell, George Handy of Ypsilanti, and John S. Page of Howell as treasurer. Fielding H. Yost and Clyde R. Ford named honorary commissioners.

Bob Brown and Edward T. Gushee of The Detroit Edison Company along with W. A. Markland, Detroit News columnist, toured Saline for three weeks. They were hosted by Local Manager Max Fosdick and met several local businessmen during the visit.

Edison to Erect Farm Lines Across 7,600 Sq Miles

The Detroit Edison Company will place orders for materials to build farm lines and accept farmer applicants for line extensions after War Production Board relaxes restrictions. R. R. Brown says service will reach nearly all farms, with 34 000 already served and 2100 more planned in the 7 600 square mile territory. Philip J. Savage to leave active duty after 35 years. Sylvester F. Leahy named director of employee relations while J. Herbert Walker oversees.

Announcement this week that Mr and Mrs William F Moeller of Clinton have acquired an interest in the Saline Theatre with Mrs Moeller assuming active management. New side lights were installed with a modernistic effect enhancing comfort and convenience for patrons of the popular theatre.

Too Many Bureaus Making Laws For Us

Arthur J. Wiltse of Ann Arbor spoke at the Rotary Club luncheon at The Tavern last Thursday. He cited 125 bureaus making laws and urged curbing them, warned against labor union power and fascism, and argued for open hiring without union cards. his remarks drew warm applause.
