Saline High School earned two First Division ratings at the District Band and Orchestra Contest held at Ypsilanti High School. The Senior and Cadet Bands both received superior marks from judges Mark DeLeonard Allen Britton Wayne Dunlap and Keith Stein.

The Wm. B. Lutz Unit No. 322 Saline American Legion Auxiliary held a regular meeting at the Legion Home with 29 members present. Gwenyth Armbruster presided as president. Karl Wiedman’s Unique Hobby Quilts in Saline

Karl Wiedman of Saline pursues a long hobby making handmade quilts drawn from designs he creates. Starting about twenty two years ago after his wife planned a quilt he designed the monkey wrench pattern and has since produced many intricate quilts such as Lone Star Monkey Wrench Wanderlust and others, which he often gives as wedding gifts and displays at home for visitors.

Saline Senior High and Cadet Bands stage a benefit concert Wednesday evening to fund a proposed sprint tour. Tickets 50 cents from band members. concert 7 45 begins with Cadet Band contest music and Senior Band concert pieces with solos and ensembles.

Betty Jane Scherdt infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Scherdt was baptized Sunday February 28 at St Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Church. She wore the baptismal dress her mother wore. Saline Students Visit Detroit Exhibit and School Debate

Saline High School art classes led by Mrs. Jean Taylor toured the Scholastic Art Exhibit in Detroit sponsored by the Detroit News. The group viewed works across multiple disciplines at Crowley's and the Detroit Institute of Arts before returning with ideas for an upcoming Saline exhibit. The day followed a Federated Church Ladies Aid meeting and a local school advisory council discussion on building one twenty room school versus two smaller schools, with a straw vote showing 220 for the single large school and 142 for the two smaller options.
