Saline Hospital News records births for a Dexter couple with a February 19 birth and a Milan couple with February 21 birth. It also lists several patients across Graydon Everett, Frances Unterkircher, Maud Eskelson, Richard Alber, Judy Blystone, Emma Gross, Lillian Rymenaicz, Patricia Badour, and others, plus surgical and tonsillectomy cases including Eugeny Roehm, Clara Lindemann, Kylie Cruse, David Erwin, Bonnie Walthers, and Joseph Lengacher.

Saline High School Senior Band will perform three pieces for three adjudicators Saturday afternoon at 1 PM in Ypsilanti to seek First Division honors. Sarah Louise Gosmer Kader died February 19 1954 at her Norvell home after a long invalid period. Born September 20 1870 in Bridgewater she married Geoffrey Kader February 18 1890 and died on her 64th wedding anniversary. She was 83. She lived much of her life in Norvell belonged to Seventh Day Adventist Church of Jackson. Funeral at Weatherby Funeral Home Jackson officiated by Rev S B Newmeyer and burial at Norvell Cemetery. Survivors include husband a daughter Grace Van Lok en of Norvell a son Leo of Jackson and Loys of Pontiac a grandson Dr Robert Kader of Lansing and two great grandsons of Lansing.
The district tournament draws set Saline and Chelsea as byes for opening night. On March 4 Roosevelt faces A High at 7 00 p m with the winner meeting Saline at 7 00 March 5. Lincoln vs St Thomas plays 8 30 March 4 with winner meeting Chelsea at 8 30 March 5. The championship is scheduled for 7 80 March 5.
The Saline Area Educational Advisory Council calls a general meeting of all school electors for Monday evening at 8 30 o clock March 1 1954 at Saline Area High School Gym. The meeting will decide which building program to adopt with representatives from the Board of Education and the Advisory Council present to discuss proposals.
The coming events include an OES card party on February 27 at 8 30 p.m. 75 cents per person. On March 1 Saline Advisory Council meeting at Saline Area Schools 8 30 p.m. OES meeting follows. March 2 spaghetti dinner 5 to 7 p.m. at St Andrews Parish Hall division meetings of the Methodist Church with Ruth Esther Mary Dorcas circles and WSCS noted with hostesses and times.
The Ladies Aid Society of Federated Church shifts its February meeting to Friday at 2:00 PM. It will be held at the home of Mrs. John Lamb due to schedule changes.
Mrs. Jean Taylor announces sixth grade art contest results. James Jordan won the grand prize with Slid ing Down a Hill on a Cloudy Day. First place was a two way tie for Life on the Farm and Skating on a Lonely Pond.
The Fathers and Sons banquet at Federated Church features fried chicken and cherry pie served by the Ladies Aid Society led by Mrs. Howard Johnson. Decorations use patriotic colors. Music by James Austin and Eddie Doll, with invocation by Charles Jacquith and an address by Marvin Rorick. Charles Uphaus presides. a Raymond Massey narrated film titled The Man With A Thousand Hands will close.
Saline High School hosts a Band Bounce in the school gym Friday from 9 to 12 with 50 cent tickets to raise funds for the Band's Spring Tour. Open to students and the public after the Milan game, featuring the H. B. Dance Band with piano trumpet saxophone clarinet drums and string bass.
The Child Study Club met February 16 at Mrs. Arthur Hagen's home with a panel of high school reps discussing teen issues. They urged a separate youth canteen with adult guidance and pledged to locate a site and help finance it. A committee from both groups will meet February 22 to advance plans, with future meetings set for March 2, March 16, and March 16 at different homes.
A card party sponsored by QU E S will be held on Saturday February 27 at 8 30 PM. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. Lunch included.
Sa line Advisory Council survey shows 155 replies with 91 favoring a single twenty room elementary school and 56 preferring two. Most support hot lunch and gym expansion are debated. 93 voters favor options within 500k to 650k and 53 in 700k to 850k range. An unofficial ballot will be issued for final decision on bond plan and school layout.
Peter Kalinke, Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan, will address St. Pauls Church Youth Fellowship Sunday at 6 pm. He served as a Nazi war correspondent in 1945, was captured by the Soviets, spent five years in camps, studied in Germany, and later worked with the State Department before arriving in the United States in 1953. Guests from Second Baptist Church Ann Arbor invited.
The World Day of Prayer service will be held at St Pauls Church on Friday at 8 o'clock during Lent. The Methodist and Federated Churches share leadership and a film strip will be shown. Ladies from the churches will explain the event origin purpose and offering, inviting all to attend.
The Ladies Aid Society Circle I hosts a St Patrick's Party for other Circles on Tuesday March 2 at 8:00 PM at Mrs Hazen Jewell's home. Circle I presents the program on the Spanish American Mission Book and provides entertainment and refreshments. Business and offerings handled separately. All women of the church and friends invited.
