Saline Band Stand Hosts Second Annual Wednesday Concert

The Saline School Band gave a successful concert Wednesday night July 8 from the new band stand built by local business and professionals. The program featured marches selections and overtures, followed by the Jackson Follies tap dancing and singing. Proceeds support merchandise buyers in Saline and weekly drawings award prizes from one to sixty dollars. The series aims to provide free community entertainment and boost local commerce while offering a healthy gathering for residents.

New Salvage Drive Urges Citizens to Scrap Metals Now

The 1942 appeal calls on all towns and the nation to collect scrap metal to fuel war production. A Saline Junk Rally will mobilize residents to gather iron, steel, brass, copper, aluminum, rubber, rope, bags, and rags for sale or donation, with central stations to be announced.

Saline Band Invited To Play In Detroit

The Saline High School band is invited to perform in Detroit on July 24 as part of two parade and concert events honoring the United States Navy. It is the first time a Saline band has been invited to play in Detroit for the Navy. A large naval contingent will parade with the band and many ranking navy officials will be present.

The Saline Rotary Club meeting at The Tavern last Thursday featured a True or False contest with 25 questions. Carl Curtiss solved the most. Runners up were Gordon Prout and Alwin Burkhardt. Guests included Fred M. Greenstreet of Ypsilanti and Co. F. Ramsey of Ann Arbor.
