Speeding Fatal Crash Near Clinton Kills Woman

Raymond Craig of Detroit and his sister Alberta Craig of Kansas City were in a two car crash 40 miles east of Clinton. Alberta died instantly. Raymond survived with a broken neck. The other driver was Avedis Artinian of New York City. Officials blamed excessive speed for the accident.

Funeral Rites Held for Mrs. Eugene Fowler in Ypsilanti and Saline

Funeral services were held Friday at Ypsilanti and Saline for Flora Lillian Isbell Fowler born February 3 1866 in Bridgewater. She married Eugene Fowler in 1884. they lived in Saline and later moved to Ypsilanti in 1907. Survived by daughter Hazel Millage of Ypsilanti and son Howard of Pontiac, with a brother Alden Isbel residing in Los Angeles.

Eiveral DeMeritt sustained the loss of five middle fingers and the amputation of one finger at the first joint while splicing a hayfork rope. He caught his hand in a pulley crushing two fingers on his right hand in Blissfield.

Black Widow Spotted in Allegan County Michigan

An adult black widow spider was found near the Plainview fire tower in Allegan County by William Neal Hale. The specimen, identified by Michigan State College entomology, shows the red hour glass on the abdomen and marks one of only three authentic Michigan records, with previous finds in Berrien and Manistee counties.

The College Inn Revue sponsored by the P T A was staged Monday in the school auditorium. Acts included Jackie and Robbie Leonard and many dancers, with Florence Wiedmeyer on multiple instruments. Ralph Harwood won first prize, Charles Collins second, Katherine Briggs third. proceeds benefited the P T A treasury.

Former Alphonse Schmid Place To Be A Hospital

The former Alphonse Schmid place at the corner of South Ann Arbor and Henry street is being transformed to meet state laws. When complete the building will house Saline General hospital making Saline one of the best small-city hospital facilities in the state. Locusts Emerge in Washtenaw County After 17-Year Cycle

The Manchester Enterprise reports 17 year cicadas appearing in several orchards in Washtenaw County. Reports say sparrows and starlings feed on them while locals note limited damage. Cicadas hatch underground for 17 years then emerge around late spring with a distinctive buzzing mating call.

Fraud Charged to Ypsilanti Man

Ralph Wagner of Ypsilanti was charged with obtaining $500 in bonds by false pretenses from a local woman and arraigned before Justice Jay H. Payne. He requested an examination set for July 6 and was released on a $500 bond. Complainant is Mrs. Johanna G. Klaphank of 524 Third Street. Sheriff's officers arrested Wagner this morning.

A Bible in continuous use for over a century at St Pauls Episcopal Church in Pawtucket Rhode Island will be boxed for preservation. Printed by Silas Andrus in 1829 in Hartford Connecticut the edition was presented to the church in 1831.
