Milk ruling stirs state to a new fight
Michigan dairy officials plan a revised bill for the next legislature after the state supreme court invalidated the 1923 law prohibiting sale of milk substitute products made from skimmilk and egg yolk. James Warner of the Bureau of Dairying says the ruling upsets a public health aim. Wisconsin upholds a similar law, Illinois court struck it down, and Nebraska is weighing the issue. Officials may take the case to federal courts after Assistant Attorney General Iverson returns to Lansing.
