Polio Dimes Dinner Raises 924 At Saline Jaycees
The Saline Jr. Chamber of Commerce Polio Diner raised 924.00 for the March of Dimes at Marty's Restaurant last Sunday. Over 300 attended the event served by Jaycees and the auxiliary. Gert rude Rankin and Marty Hemen way donated the restaurant space.

Funeral services for George C Handy publisher of the Ypsilanti Daily Press were held at 2 PM from Geer Funeral Home Ypsilanti. He was 71 and had been at University Hospital Ann Arbor since January 14. He joined the paper as a student at Eastern Michigan College became manager in 1908 bought the business in 1917 and moved the paper to 101 N Huron Street in 1922. He held multiple civic roles including Rotary Club and College Alumni Association and is survived by his wife a son Frank of Ypsilanti and a daughter Jane of New York.

Saline Hornets versus Roosevelt of Ypsilanti has been rescheduled to Thursday night. The game will be played in Ypsilanti instead of Friday and was previously set for Friday evening.
Saline High School bond bid approved for 1959 project
The Saline school board opened three sealed bids January 27 for the 1.65 million dollar Saline High School bond issue. The First of Michigan Corporation offered 4.42 percent interest to be retired at 3.9 percent by 1985. Construction is expected to start in spring and finish by early 1959 with land already secured.

Saline police report a busy week of vehicle crashes
The Saline Police Department logged multiple near and minor crashes. Incidents include a 1958 Chrysler and a 1953 Dodge tractor car carrier collision near Carl's Truck Stop on US-112, two more wrecks near Washtenaw County roads, and a 1955 Chevrolet striking a pole with injuries to Janice and Florence Strange.
