Jersey Cattle Club Annual Meeting Slated January 25

Zoning Plan For Saline Aids Industrial Growth

The Saline City Council formed a zoning committee to study current zoning and propose changes. After a three month review, a four zone plan and an enforcing ordinance are presented, including setbacks for industry and a ban on new residences in industrial zones. A public hearing is set for February 10 to consider the proposal. The committee urges community input before final council action and lists members Robert Moon chairing.

Saline Library reports 57th annual association meeting

The Saline Library Association held its 57th annual meeting Friday January 10 at 8 pm with President Mrs Roy Rogers opening. Officers were elected for three years including Katherine Briggs and Helen Koebbe. 1957 circulation topped 3161 adult, 3493 juvenile books and 340 magazines. two state book shipments and 56 gift books added. One board member, Mrs Carl Curtiss, died March 29. Treasurer Ruth McCartery filed the year’s receipts and disbursements, noting a balance of 1,978.71 at start and 2,279.74 at year end with a reserve fund of 3,687.80.
