The January P T A gathering in Saline filled the room despite bad weather. A panel on the importance of P T A work featured ten local speakers from schools, Camp Fire, Boy Scouts, the board, church, Women’s Club, business, and medical fields. They urged parent involvement, better leisure use, and closer cooperation with teachers and health officials. A February 17 session with a State Health Department representative and Miss Haist was announced for all parents.
Oil experts foresee commercial production at the R. J. McCarbery farm well northeast of Britton after rise of 900 feet in a 2450 foot bore. Sunoco Vacuum Oil conducts drilling. The reported oil grades higher than central state and 41 gravity. More wells likely nearby. Roe No. 1 near Deerfield at 680 feet.

Leo King, a truck driver, received a five year probation and $50 court costs after pleading guilty to negligent homicide for a December crash on U S 112 east of Cambridge Junction that killed five Milan and Saline men and left a sixth seriously ill. Judge Rathbun noted long driving hours and lack of rest.
John Kell state conservation official for Kent County says pheasants quail and many smaller birds face starvation unless sportsmen and farmers supply feed at once. Recent heavy snows have covered most weeds and other normal food sources. Kell believes the condition is statewide.
