Gas Company Official Retires as Manager in Ann Arbor

Michigan Consolidated Gas announces Charles R. Henderson retires as Ann Arbor District general manager and Jack D. Hogan becomes district general manager. Henderson will chair the district advisory board. Hogan, a 1932 Michigan alum, has long served in company management and local civic roles.

Milan Considers Incorporation as City

Washtenaw County Clerk Luella M. Smith was notified by the Secretary of State that an election is called for the incorporation of Milan village into a city on April 1. Petitions are due by 4 p.m. Wednesday for nine charter commission members.

Edward Bohnet Funeral Held on Saturday

Edward H. Bohnet eighty one a retired carpenter contractor died Thursday morning at the Saline Convalescent Home after a long illness. He lived at 928 Sylvan Avenue and 1129 Michigan Avenue previously. Born January 9 1876 in Pittsfield Township he was the son of John George and Caroline Doss Bohner. Survived by wife Sophia Newhouse a daughter Mrs Francis C Wehr of Ypsilanti and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at Muehlig Chapel with Rev E C Stelhorn officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Saline Bands Sweep Top Area Honors in Contest

Saline High School Concert Band and the Junior High Band topped district class C competitions with first division ratings. The Senior High Band earned a unanimous first division and the Junior High Band also received a first division. The Junior High Intermediate Band earned third division. The High School band advances to the State Festival in East Lansing on April 13 and plans a spring tour.

Westminster Fellowship Group Meeting in Saline

The Westminster Fellowship Group of Federated Church of Saline hosts Sunday gathering with Presbyterian groups from Ypsilanti and Milan. Two Detroiters Hurt in Stolen Car Crash

Two Detroit men were seriously injured when a stolen 1956 car driven by Edward Altman 29 crashed four miles west of Saline at 5 45 am on US 112. Altman and Burchell Radcliffe 43 were taken to Herrick Memorial Hospital Tecumseh then University Hospital Ann Arbor. Altman suffered a collapsed lung fractured leg and multiple injuries while Radcliffe had a fractured skull deep head cuts and a lung injury.

Lent Observance Opens at M E Church March 6

The Methodist Church begins a 24 hour round the clock Prayer Vigil from Ash Wednesday 8:00 a m to Thursday 8:00 a m to mark Lent. Family Nights start Thursday at 6 30 p m with a pot luck supper and Lent service at 7 45 led by Rev Dudley Masure Goodwill Industries Detroit chaplain.

At the Tri County Sportsman's League annual meeting Harry Steiner of Saline was elected president succeeding Gaylord Conklin. Offiers Ron Christie Ann Arbor Ed Olson Ann Arbor Earl Lies Ann Arbor and Fred Audritsch Ann Arbor were re elected. Harold Sanderson of Ypsilanti joined the board of directors as the only new member. Washtenaw Ready To Pick Site For Ag Building

A public meeting on February 28 in Ann Arbor will decide the site for a new rural Ag Building for 4 H club work. Options include two Zeeb road plots near US 12, 20 to 57 acres, and a potential Farm Bureau office adjacent to the building. If another site is chosen, Ann Arbor would reimburse 15 000 of the 15 000 lease on the old fairgrounds and 73 000 now tied to the project.
