We thank friends and neighbors of Mrs Alice Simmons and Rev Bach for kindness and comforting words during our bereavement. Nieces and nephews.
Saline fire and police departments sell tickets for a March 3 ball in the auditorium. Tim Doolittle will provide music for the event with proceeds aiding both departments.
Mrs. McGriff and baby went home Saturday. B. T. Bowditch of Milan had his tonsils removed Friday. Mrs. Julia Carven is recovering nicely from a fall and is up and around. Herman Marion underwent an emergency appendicitis operation last Thursday afternoon and is getting along fine.

Saline Mercantile Company held a sparse in person annual meeting with many shares represented by proxy. President Arthur Heininger presided as secretary Ferman Clements kept minutes. Directors re-elected included Heininger, Clements, Wiedmayer, Lambarth, Sweetland, Hertler and Finkbeiner. Moving pictures followed adjournment.
Miss Dorothy Lydia Hertler daughter of Mr and Mrs Dan Hertler and John Miller Quick son of Mr and Mrs Ray L Quick of Newton Mass were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran church Saturday evening in the presence of one hundred guests. The ceremony was conducted by Rev H L Engel with gladiolas and candelabra adorning the altar. The bride wore a white satin gown with fingertip veil and orange blossom tiara and carried ivory roses gladiola freesia and rubrum lilies. She was given in marriage by her father and attended by Mrs Jack Brookins. Erwin and Harold Feldkamp were ushers.

Miss Amanda Mayer entertained at a family dinner Friday honoring her father Fred Mayer on his 91st birthday. Born in Württemberg, Germany, he came to Saline County at age five and has been a respected, longtime resident with many friends in Saline and surrounding areas. His sons Herman of Findlay Ohio and William of Roseville attended the celebration. his garden is noted for its beauty and care.
Belleville Tigers dominated Saline Hornets after a tight first half, unleashing a 22 point third quarter to seal an 87 to 23 victory. Price led with 13 points, Pappas added 7, while Don Kelsey scored 9 for Saline and Dale Hirth had 7. The Hornets head to Ann Arbor next to face University High before hosting Lincoln on February 27 as district brackets open March 5 in Ypsilanti.
C A Jordan announces an auction sale set for Saturday February 28 at his farm on Jordan Road. The event invites local buyers to bid on items at the rural property auction.
A wedding at the West Saline Lutheran parsonage united Miss Doris Klein and Loren Finkbeiner with Rev. Haneburg officiating. The small reception for 80 guests followed, then the couple planned to live with the groom’s parents.
Having sold the farm, a public auction will be held on the premises two miles southwest of Saline on the Saline Macon road Tuesday February 24 at 12 30 p m. Items include three heifers one 1937 Fordson tractor with a plow, several horses and a mare, 40 coarse wool ewes bred, 30 black top ewes, a ram, three red Duroc sows, a grain binder, corn binder, manure spreader, hay loader, two sets of Oliver drags, grain drill, corn planters, multiple cultivators, wagons and harness, 500 bushels oats, plus miscellaneous farm tools and hay. Luella Feldkamp daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Feldkamp and Ralph Hack son of Mr and Mrs Fred Hack married in St Johns church Bridgewater by Rev Phillipp with a double ring ceremony on February 7. The 45th wedding anniversary of the Feldkamp couple was noted. Attendants included Miss Ruth Hack and Miss Evelyn Pittman. Reception at the bride’s home followed.
