The Red Cross restarts Thursday gatherings in quarters above Gross Hardware from 1 to 5 pm. Volunteers may report at the rooms with surgical dressings to be made and yarn donations coordinated by Mrs. E A Clark. The Saline quota is 300 yet only 82.26 percent reached, and a $74 shortfall remains to meet local needs.
Gottlob Hinderer will sell his personal property on Saturday March 7 at 12 o clock. The sale takes place on M-11 location noted. Proceeds support unidentified estate matters and local attendees are advised to attend.
East Saline residents gathered in the auditorium to view a natural color film titled Alaska the Great Land. The 3 000 mile summer cruise along the southern coast showcased cities towns wildlife and native villages. Rare footage included sea otter scenes and large flesh eating bears. East has also shown the film in Milan Ann Arbor and Chelsea and this marked his Saline debut.
The Ypsilanti bomber plant may bring 800 000 to 600 000 workers radiating to Saline and nearby towns. Saline could double its population and absorb newcomers via available lots and undeveloped land along McKay Russell streets and north of Lockwood funeral home. Citizens urged to study expansion and express views to support growth through utilities, schools, and business opportunity.
Charles A. Jordan sells at public auction on site two miles southwest of Saline, on February 23 at 1:00 pm. Last Wednesday marked the 12th annual Power Day hosted by Herman Heininger. A packed Saline gym saw 750 attendees as the event shifted from prizes to entertainment. A Hollywood style musical program, sound films courtesy of International Harvester, and talks on farming equipment highlighted the day, with praise for the school staff and superintendent for adding extra seats and courtesy.
Saline Theater manager Mr Hutzel released the March lineup. Opening with Ice Capades March 1 to 3, then Three Girls from Robot Town March 4 to 5, followed by Two Latins from Manhattan and Lawless Plainsman March 6 to 7.
