Adairs Open New Paint Store Here

A new paint and wallpaper shop opened this week at 113 W. Michigan Avenue, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Ross Adair. They live in the upstairs apartment with their two children Tom and Sue. Adair has about 20 years in the paint trade and previously lived in Stony Creek before moving to Xenis, Ohio to run a business.

Cancer Society plans spring drive and hospital push in Washtenaw

Washtenaw County American Cancer Society held a Saline Hotel meeting to plan a spring April campaign. George Ennen welcomed William Crim to the board as Dr. Miller announced two committees for fundraising and publicity. A hospital project drew broad rural support with plans for a drive after year start and a January public meeting at Saline High School.

Weekend Traffic Crashes Reported in Saline Area

Two weekend accidents at Saline involve Ernest Jaeger and Edward Foster after rain slicked streets. no injuries. Sunday collision on 112 west near Saline causes injuries to Joseph McLaughlin, Earl Haughin, and Nina Haughin. all treated at Saline General Hospital.

Farewell Party For The Burkharts At Legion Hall

The American Legion Auxiliary held a farewell dinner on Tuesday November 23 at the Legion Hall for Mr and Mrs Don Burkhart who are moving to Florida. Eighty seven members attended the potluck and the regular Auxiliary meeting followed. The group planned an assembly at the High School on What is Girls State and Boys State. The Auxiliary membership stands at 139 and past presidents and post presidents contributed 50 dollars each to the Nurses Scholarship Fund. Rehabilitation funds bought gifts for the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor. Burkharts and Ruth Brososky hosted WPAG radio program for November. Final curb and gutter bill payment was made. Christmas party gifts for the State Hospital are being prepared for delivery. The Child Welfare Committee will check for needy families.

University Man To Direct Choir

William Larsen a university student and understudy of Dr Maynard Klein has been engaged as the choir director of the Methodist Church. The first rehearsal is Thursday at 7 30 p m with a social hour at the close. All Adult and Youth Chiefs are invited.

Rotary Club Plans Athletic Banquet for SHS Grid Team

The Saline Rotary Club will sponsor an Athletic Banquet on December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Saline High School gym. Guests include the Saline Varsity football team and coaches. Bob Holloway will speak and narrate a Big Ten game movie. tickets are sold at Coe's Barber Shop and the Saline Observers.

Saline Students Plan Season Long Sportsmanship Campaign

The Saline High School Student Council launches a good sportsmanship campaign for basketball season. Rules include no littering, no booing referees, no taunting players, following cheerleaders, supporting the team when behind, and avoiding poor sportsmanship at home or away. Detroit witnessed a signing event on Wednesday as Mayor Leutheuser and City Clerk B J Muir completed the General Obligation Pond agreement. The ceremony highlighted municipal financing plans and local governance.

George Cavender Guest Leader At Band Concert

George Cavender will guest conduct the Saline High School Band at H. S. Gym on Wednesday December 8. The free concert starts at 8 00 with Cadet Band at 7 45 and features Rimsky Korsakov Thais and other pieces plus Cavender as guest conductor. Donations for a scholarship fund are welcomed.
