New Faculty Lines for Ypsilanti School Year

The district adds three new teachers as two resignations and one release shift staff. Donald Fuller joins to teach history and coach with prior studies at Utah State, Michigan, Utah, Idaho, Denver and George Williams. Marjorie DeVerna becomes commercial teacher succeeding a vacancy. Eli O Bradowich to lead shop and science after replacing Francisco who leaves for Saline.

Brooklyn pickle factory operates amid local notes

In the August 21 1890 issue the Observer reports a Brooklyn pickle factory active. It notes community concerns such as bur docks near Ypsilanti churches and a failed effort to remove them, a drowning near Bridgewater, onion pulling in Pittsfield and various local travels and trades including wheat sales and a planned iron bridge across the Huron at Ann Arbor.

Popular Young Couple Weds in Methodist Church Ceremony

Miss Muriel Woodbridge daughter of Mrs Charles Oliver Woodbridge and the late Dr Woodbridge married Dale Noble August 26 at 3 pm in the Methodist church before about 100 guests. Rev Walter C B Laxman officiated with music by Mrs C F Unterkircher. Out of town guests came from Windsor Kingsville London Detroit and Toronto areas.

Michigan seeks farm co op hunting areas 1939 applications open

Six thousand farmers in grade units see a 25 percent rise in game management farm co operatives in Michigan this fall. RK G Hill of Michigan State College notes about 400 000 acres across 6 000 farms are under community co operatives. Deadline Sept 20 for applications. County agents and state conservation staff offer guidance. Kingston in 1936 started the program with 75 farmers on 15 000 acres.

Yesterday a party passed through Bridgewater en route to the Detroit Exposition. Rev J W McGregor of Milan’s Presbyterian church will speak at Saline’s Methodist church next Sunday evening. McGregor once led a New York society aimed at Jewish Christianization. Local stock raisers skip the Exposition due to cost.
