The 1939-40 school year begins Wednesday at 8 30 am with Superintendent T M Clay announcing the Labor Day traffic will be avoided by a Wednesday start A large ninth grade enrollment is expected and twenty two students have already sent in registrations New cement tennis courts will be ready for play thanks to the Legion Auxiliary American Legion Ford Motor Company and the Board of Education CWA and FERA funded the court project with later plans for floodlights a skating rink and winter play space are hoped to follow.

Michigan Amateur Camera Contest Entries Due August 26
The Saline Observer reports that the Michigan Amateur Camera contest, run with the Michigan Press Association and Michigan State Fair, will award 200 dollars in prizes on September 2. Entries mailed to the Camera Contest at the Michigan State Fair in Detroit must be 8x10 inches minimum, mounted, with entrant name address date and place, camera make, and if possible lens opening. Judges include George Averill Philip Rich and Detroit chief photographers. Winners announced August 28.

Bond Forbes School Reunions Draw Large Turnout
The fifteenth Bond Forbes reunion at the school grounds drew about sixty for dinner with more joining in the afternoon. Visitors hailed from Flint Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Windsor Detroit Dexter Milan Adrian Belleville and Birmingham. A business meeting elected officers and set next reunion for August 1941. A second reunion at Judd School grounds drew about 75 with a potluck dinner and a program of songs solos readings and talks including Mrs John Dicks and Mrs Youngs. Ginger the dog provided comic relief.
