Five Counties Vote On Huron Clinton Park Way Playland
Five southeastern Michigan counties Livingston Wayne Washtenaw Oakland and Macomb prepare to vote on a large Huron Clinton parkway playland recreation system proposal. The plan, led by Senator George P. McCallum, envisions 80 to 100 miles of parkway along the rivers with about 40000 acres of parkland for up to four million people, inspired by New Yorks park and highway system. If approved in November 1940 and two or more counties vote yes, a metropolitan authority would be formed with potential for later expansion.

Hack Family Holds 16th Annual Reunion at Lodi Home
The Hack family reunion drew 70 members and guests on Sunday July 30 at Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hack's home in Lodi. Mrs. Alma Theurer was elected president and Mrs. Hither Noble served as secretary treasurer. Mrs. George Hack was the oldest attendee and Bruce Kingsley was the youngest. The group voted to hold the 1940 reunion on the second Sunday in July at the Schaible home in Saline.
