Red Cross Drive Lags in Saline as Workers Short

Saline area school bonds sold to Detroit lender

The Saline area school board met with four representatives from 14 bonding firms Wednesday night at 8 30 and sold the bonds to the First of Michigan Corporation in Detroit. The winning bid rate was .0232997 with other bids at .02403 .025051 and .025095.

Rev Feuell To Leave Saline After Four Years Of Service

At the Saline Methodist Church annual meeting Rev R R Feuell submitted his resignation effective June, planning retirement after Detroit Conference in Dearborn. He has led a growing four year ministry with 90 new members and 60 baptisms, amid a church renovation and paid expansions. The Feuells, long in ministry, will move to Detroit 17281 Pierson.

Saline Area School Board Approves New Elementary Plans

Saline Area Schools board met April 21 approving plans for a new elementary school. The group authorized four new teachers for vocational agriculture first grade kindergarten and second grade plus hiring for high school and a second 4th grade section. They also authorized investing 15000 from the debt retirement fund and government notes.

Saline Valley Farms Co operative Inc sells its milk routes to Cloverleaf Dairy of Ann Arbor. The auction of the herd of 84 cattle and farm implements is set for 9 30 May 1. The operation began in 1987 and supports about 475 customers with 15 permanent employees. Harold Gray presides and Michael Sheehan serves as vice president.

Dr. Hird Guest Mayor for Saline May 5

Dr. Douglas Hird of Gaylord will serve as Saline mayor on May 5. The report notes Gaylord as a small city with a full time paid secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, located at the M-32 and US-27 crossing amid a timber and beef region with ski and tourist attractions nearby.

Universal Employees Start Golf League at Ann Arbor

Edward Langstaff 76 Dies After Illness in Saline

Edward Langstaff died last Thursday afternoon at his home 10698 Saline Milan Road after a long illness. Born September 5, 1887 in Stockton on Tees England he married Charlotte Kunz on March 17, 1911. He is survived by two sons Lloyd and Jack a sister and one grandchild. Funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lockwood Funeral Home Saline. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.

State Child Study Club Meets at Williamston Michigan

The State Child Study Club held its spring convention in Williamston Michigan last Saturday April 24 with about 400 attending from central Michigan. Saline Boy Scout Calendar Plans Hikes Camporee and Sale

The Saline troop schedules May weekend hikes on May 1 2 and May 9 10 with an overnight May 15 16 at Saline Park. A Council Camporee at Brain Lake will run May 22 28. The troop seeks merit badge counselors among local hobbyists and business people and invites volunteers via Neil Tracy 2636 Hartman Road phone 40g. Washtenaw County Association of the Order of the Eastern Stars met in Saline at Saline High School on April 24 with 86 for lunch and 144 in the afternoon. Seven chapters represented, plus two guests, a fashion show highlighted by decade costumes, and a 191 attendee total for day. Evening included tributes, initiatory work, and closing ceremonies at St Paul’s Church.

Police News: Drunk and Disorderly Arrests in Saline Area

Willis Derry of Ferndale, arrested Friday for drunk and disorderly conduct in Saline, fined 20.70 plus 4.30 costs. Edgar Russell jailed Sunday morning on a drunk and disorderly charge and forfeited his bond for missing court. Andrew Milloway of Willow Village cited for drunk driving with 50.00 fine and 50.00 costs or 10 days, license revoked. D. J. Thorp fined 15.00 costs or 10 days. Arnold Lee Tester of Jackson nabbed for drunken driving and revoked license with 20.00 or 10 days and 50.00 fines plus 50.00 costs or 30 days.
