Using damaged grains as livestock feed guidance
A Manitoba agriculture note explains how frost hail and drought damaged grain or forage can be fed to livestock. It stresses doing a feed test at the provincial Feed Lab, spot nitrate tests, cautious inclusion of damaged grain, and gradual blending up to 10 15 percent. Rapeseed can boost cattle rations but dairy rations need care due to protein and oil effects. Frozen grains need supplementation with minerals and vitamins for balanced rations.
