Cheesemakers told of growing Canadian cheese sales potential
Greg David of Baden Cheese Company urged Manitoba cheesemakers to boost home production to replace imports. He cited 1978 figures showing Canadians consumed 26 million kg of Canadian cheese and 19 million kg of imports, with potential to replace up to 11 million kg. Adolphe Zandler noted European equipment advances. Manitoba hosts eight plants and cheddar production ranks third in Canada. About 35 industry, government and university attendees attended the seminar in Winnipeg on November 14.
