Strong-Minded Men Urged for Postwar Peace Plan

Dr. Henry J. Bruman of Pennsylvania State College outlines a four point postwar peace plan emphasizing leadership over idealism. He calls for democracy reeducation in conquered lands, extended military occupation of Germany Italy and possibly Hungary, compulsory American male military training, and generous territorial and resource allotments including Austrian and Sudeten Germans to Germany and Japan.

Dairy shifts to monthly billing and cash redemption

Beginning June 1 the dairy ends its ticket plan for retail accounts and moves to monthly billing with a discount for payments within 30 days. All on hand tickets will be redeemed for cash, and no one will lose money. The change aims to reduce work and gain customer approval.

Birthday dinner honors mothers and a Fort Dodge group

Mrs Carrie Month Mrs A Manchester and Mrs Richard Godwin were feted at a birthday dinner hosted by Mr and Mrs J C Brogotti with sixteen Fort Dodge guests including A Manchester Richard Godwin Alfred Taylor Walter Manchester. The Lively Lassies 4-H Club met Saturday with leader Hattie Lehnus at the Lehnus home to make and sell war saving stamp corsages. Guests included Miss Lehnus as the selling continued into the evening and supporters helped add to the club fund.

Iowa Set Summer Football Practice Schedule

University of Iowa will open summer practice August 1 under Coach Slip Madigan and run to September 1. After a one week gap, fall drills begin September 7 then a month of early fall work before facing Ohio State in Columbus on October 7.

War Price and Ration Board Changes B and CG Renewals

Pocahontas county residents will no longer receive renewal applications by mail for B and CG books. Applications will be available at local gasoline stations and may be submitted starting May 15, 1944. The local ration board will not prepare applications for individuals.
