Rock Valley hosts state music contest with 92 participants
Ninety two Rock Valley school musicians took part as the state Class C vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles contest was held March 25 and 26 at Lake Park. Winners posted ratings from 1 to 3 with numerous ensembles earning top marks and praise for musicianship.

Community school hires three new teachers for 66 67
We Rack Valley Community school board signed three new teachers for the 1966 67 year. Janet Witt English from Alcester SD and a Remsen instructor joins. a fourth grade teacher and an elementary physical education lead will also be added. The community hosts a church reception and a Holy Land slide presentation by Editor Fisher. Local names include Mr and Mrs Danita of Rock Rapids and Mrs John Landegent of Rock Valley.

Music Appreciation Dinner Delights Rock Valley Students
About 240 boys and girls from Rock Valley Community School joined their parents for a Music Appreciation dinner at Haag Hall. The event featured performances by the class A band and chorus, with Superintendent Halsart from Maurice-Orange City schools giving a talk on education behind the Ikon Curtain observed during his trip to Tisia. Joe Glanzer hosted, while Roger Lee Helgerson, USN, son of Tillie Helgerson, returns from eight weeks at San Diego recruit training and heads to Great Lakes for engineman school after enlisting in January 1966.
