A sweep of community notes reports dinners and Sunday visits across Sioux Falls and nearby towns. Families including Wissinks Van de Stouwes Suters and Vande Weerds gathered for suppers and hospital/guest visits while relatives from Hull Ireton and Storm Lake joined celebrations.

Hope Haven staff visited the State School for the Mentally Handicapped in Glenwood and the State School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs on Monday March 28. Accompanying them were parents of attending children and board members led by trip coordinator John Vacde Kerk.

Donald G. Schubert a 36 year old former teller at Lester State Bank pleaded guilty in U S District Court Sioux City to two of four counts of embezzlement totaling 800 dollars. A pre sentence investigation was ordered he is free on 5000 dollar bond and faces related charges in Lyon county. He previously appeared in Rock Rapids on Oct 6 last year for embezzling 100 dollars and worked at the bank about 18 years.
The State Director of Selective Service announced college qualification tests for registrants seeking deferment as college students. Tests by Science Research Associates will be May 14 21 and June 3 at 20 colleges statewide. eligibility requires current college enrollment or upcoming college enrollment and no prior test, with results used as guidelines rather than a nomination for deferment. Applications available after April 1 and must be postmarked by April 23.
