Sam Van Voorst Transferred to Spencer Hospital After Crash
Sam Van Voorst, severely injured in a late April three truck crash that killed Rock Valley residents Marion Faber and Donald Kooi, was moved from a Sioux City hospital to Spencer. His condition has improved physically but brain damage lingers, with occasional semi conscious episodes. Van Voorst is connected with All America Transport in Rock Valley.

Kosters Leaves for Germany for Studies at ISU
Pat Kosters daughter of Mr and Mrs Hein Kosters left Wednesday for Germany with the American Student Information Service. She is in a hospital at Dusseldorf and will return to resume studies at Iowa State University in Ames in late August or early September after completing her sophomore year.

Services for Dick Postma Held in Mason City
Funeral services for Dick Postma, a former Rock Valley resident, were held Thursday June 3 at Wesley Methodist church in Mason City after a heart attack. Born October 25, 1803 in Sioux Center, he was an engineer on the Milwaukee railroad and married to Hella Mae Ross of Mason City. Survivors include his widow, two sons William Edward of San Jose California and Dick Gerrit at home, two grandchildren, and four brothers and sisters.

VFW installs commander and honors three members
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars gathered at the VFW Hall on Monday evening June 7. Jake Timmer was installed as Post Commander and Al Van Oort as Quartermaster. Twenty year members Pete, George, and Jake Timmer of Rock Valley received pins. The post has a hospital bed, wheelchair, and walker available to the public with a nominal deposit. Valley Male Quartet to Appea r at Community High School
