Gerrit Feekes died Sunday after long illness at Sioux Center hospital. Funeral held Saturday at Carmel Reformed Church with Rev Gerald Heemstra officiating. Burial in Carmel cemetery. Feekes born August 1 1888 at Carmel lived in area all life. Survived by three daughters four brothers three sisters.
Several short courses are planned for Homemakers in Sioux County in February and early March. Interested persons should contact Beverly Green at the Sioux County Extension office in Orange City by Friday, January 21. Courses include Tailoring, Beginning Sewing, Pattern Alteration, and Upholstery with preview lessons on January 25 and 26. The Peace Letheran church held its annual Congregational meeting with members present on January 10. Officers elected include Marvin Mouw as president, Donald Winterfeld as vice president, Walter Moore Jr as secretary, Orville Stender as treasurer, Dwayne Gray as benevorence treasurer, and Eugene Reid as head usher. James Kerns was named delegate to the Iowa District convention and Pete Van Driel was named parish conservation representative.
Rock Valley Rockets drop a 65 60 decision to Maurice Orange City Friday night in Siouxland Conference play. Doug Kaufman led Rock Valley with 17 points, Hon Kaufman added 18, Schalekamp led Maurice Orange City with 24. The game remained close through three quarters with Rock Valley trailing 16 18 after the first, tied 28 28 at halftime, and 1 point separates teams entering the final period.
Dennis Hamann, son of Mr and Mrs Karl J Hamann, will enter the University of Iowa as a freshman in September and joins the Honors Program. Admission is based on top ten percent ACT scores and the applicant must maintain a B average to remain in the program, per Professor Rhodes B Dunlap.
In Rock Valley cases magistrate court records list George Van Acken and Jay A De Boer cited for improper parking with fines around 1 dollar and 5 dollars respectively and Leonard Groeneweg flagged for failure to yield. The report appears in The Rock Valley Bee.
Funeral services for Eugen Patrick Manning 55 of Scottsdale Ariz were held Saturday January 5 at 8 00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Scottsdale. Burial was in St Francis Cemetery Scottsdale. Manning died January 12 at his home. He was born January 21 1910 in Hack Valley. He founded Manning Funeral Home in Sioux City and later Manning Or Toole Funeral Home before moving to Arizona. He married Leone Kiramer June 26 1943 in Sioux City. Survivors include two sons Mary and three sisters. THURSDAY JAN 20 1986
