Promiscuous Fishing Allowed at Bays Branch
State Conservation Commission officials announced a temporary liberalization of fishing at Bays Branch in Guthrie County Iowa from November 10, 1966 to March 15, 1967. The change follows 1965 66 biological surveys showing a surge in rough fish and decline of game fish and waterfowl habitat. Fishing may be done by any means except dynamite poison electric devices or stupefying substances and is not for commercial purposes. The measure aims to restore wildlife habitat to productive levels seen when the area was developed in 1959.
