Rev William Warborg to be ordained a priest
The Rev William Albert Warborg of Doon Iowa will be ordained to the priesthood December 21 1966 alongside nine other St Columbans Foreign Mission Society members. He was born November 11 1940 in Rock Valley Iowa and will celebrate his first Mass December 22 at St Columbans seminary chapel. He will also offer a Solemn High Mass January 1 1967 at St Marys Rock Valley with a full deacon priest and presenter lineup. The Columban Fathers operate missions in Japan Korea Burma the Philippines Fiji Islands Peru and Chile.

Doon Area Two Car Crash Causes Minor Injuries
A Saturday two car collision near Doon at the Rock River bridge caused about 250 in damage to two Ford vehicles. Injuries were minor to Creig Bowma, four, who was treated by a doctor. No charges were filed.

Potts Attends Pearl Harbor Veterans Reunion in Illinois
Clarence Potts of Rock Valley, one of twelve Pearl Harbor survivors, attended a reunion in Illinois with fellow veterans. Potts, a 1939 Navy recruit and former Yeoman Second Class, served 29.5 years, later worked at the Navy Electronics Supply Office Great Lakes, and now lives in Libertyville with his wife Elda Heymen.

A man entered Haumer's Cafe on Tuesday and asked for a bag of tobacco price in 1936. Proprietor Bernard Beumer recalled a nickel or dime. The man claimed charging two bags in 1938, left a dime on the counter, and departed. Beumer did not recognize him.

Hydrant Crash Triggers Citywide Water Outage
A Rock Valley hydrant was struck by a car driven by Willis Den Boer at 16th Street and 18th Avenue, causing a citywide water outage from 7:40 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Repairs shut off mains with no shutoff valves. Front-end damage to the car was about 150 dollars. The outage affected heating and an 11 o clock wedding at Castlehe Church.

Van't Hul Undergoes Cornea Transplant Recovery Hoped
Harlan Van't Hul, a Rock Valley farmer blinded by a fertilizer accident in April, had a cornea transplant at University Hospital Iowa City. He received top priority on the transplant list due to blindness in both eyes. Outcome remains uncertain as cataracts must be removed, but doctors say results look favorable.

The Federated Woman's Club of Rock Valley sponsored a benefit soup supper last Saturday at Rock Valley Community School.
