Roanoke Rapids to Open Lake Thomas Park This June

The Roanoke Rapids amusement park at Lake Thomas near the old Zollicoffer mill site will open Friday evening June 2 with a dance at the new pavilion. J H Hines owns the development and hires Shearin Crumpler and Edwin Akers to manage the lake and pavilion this summer. The site offers baths and boating with a cafe, picnic grounds, and a onetime life guard in service, aiming to attract visitors seeking relief from the heat.
