Riverdale Park bonds for field house questioned by attorney
Attorney Dosland states that under current law the Riverdale Park District lacks power to issue bonds for a field house gymnasium or assembly room. He notes bonding authority exists only for land purchase and park improvements, and a legislative change would be needed. He estimates a $50,000 bond could raise $2,500 yearly interest and $2,500 sinking fund, totaling a $16,000 levy with existing taxes, implying a 30 percent tax increase.
