Community Firemen Meet at Dalton Village Hall

The Community Firemen's Association gathered at Dalton village hall on Monday March 25 with about 200 members present. Assistant State's Attorney Gordon Nash spoke on arson gangs and showed photos of methods used to set fires, while Harry K. Rogers demonstrated tanic acid treatment for burns and served refreshments after the meeting.

Traer Before Senate Committee Defends Labor Rights

Riverdale Acme Steel vice president Charles S. Traer told a Senate labor panel that the Wagner bill would endanger harmonious relations at Riverdale and push employer-employee questions back to the dark ages. He, along with Acme leaders Louis E. Haht and Walter Erxleben, urged Congress to keep hands off the labor problem, arguing outside organizers foment misrepresentation and coercion. James L. Donnelly of the Illinois Manufacturers Association was slated to provide further testimony.
