Plans For South Holland Church Capital Campaign
Plans for a church capital funds drive in South Holland proceed under Harry Wright guidance. The May 14 campaign will follow advice from the Church Financial Advisory Service of the Board of Home Missions. Each parish family will join a planning committee to ensure wide participation. Thornridge Community Church holds 9 45 am school and 11 am worship at Waterman School on Lidth street, near Couare Grove.

Thornton teacher Judith Ann Glickstein honored for education work
Tri City leaders by position at Monticella high school in Monticella. In 1992 she taught at Bowen School in Dist 1433 Riverdale where she stayed until 1959. She then joined the teaching staff at Thorn ton Township High School and Junior College in Harvey. This fall she was transferred to Thornyidge high school where she is co sponsor of GAA and a member of the principal's advisory committee. For the past few summers she has been working for her Masters degree and has completed work in counseling and guidance in the school of education at the University of Chicago. Mrs Filippi's most recent honor has been election to the Gambda chapter of Ti Lambda theta, a national honor society in the school of education for scholarship in education. She and her husband have been residents of this camp for fourteen years at 14213 Edbrooke in Riverdale. Mr Filippi is manager of the Brick of the Illinois Brick Company. They have a daughter, Charlene Sue, in Roosevelt school, Dalton, and she is a member of multiple education and recreation associations. In 1957 she served as convention chairman for Alpha Omicron Pi when held in Chicago. She previously served as National scholarship director for the sorority for about 66 chapters in the United States and Canada. Judith Ann Glickstein, an honor graduate, earned her B.S. at Northwestern University and Pestalozzi Froebel School. Miss Glickstein teaches girls physical education at Thornton.

Carols To Usher In Xmas Season At St. Mary's
Christmas Eve at St. Mary's Church 138th and Leiden invites all to welcome the Christ Child. The 11:30 p.m. service features a choir under Miss Rochvtle, followed by a solemn High Mass with Rev. Harold Gregowski and others. Christmas Day masses run every half hour from dawn, with a 9 a.m. High Mass and a young girls choir during the later services. The pastor Rev. John N Weiler extends Christmas blessings to parishioners and friends.

Christmas carols planned for shut ins at Immanuel Church
Immanuel Church shut ins will hear Christmas carols from several church groups. The Sunshine Choir directed by Mrs. Smaga will carol December 19. Junior high fellowship will visit shut ins December 23 at 6 30 p.m. Senior High youth will join later and a church fellowship period follows. Yule logs from the junior high group will be taken to residents and tray favors to Dolton Convalescent Home.
