Storm volleyball coach sees progress over last season

Cleveland High coach Brian Ainsworth says the Storm are more advanced this season after reaching last year’s Class 6A championship match, despite earlier struggles. The team opens a busy week with games at Sandia and home versus Farmington, then competes in Volleybash. The Storm recently beat Rio Rancho in the APS Metro quarterfinals before losing to Sandia in the semifinals, and then fell to La Cueva in four games in the following matchup. Kenley Vote led late rallies with serving, but inconsistent passing hurt them against La Cueva, while the team looks to improve passing and serving to set up top hitters. Cassie House earned all-tournament honors for UNM’s tournament, after a strong showing against Nebraska.
