Memorial service marks 15th anniversary of 9 11 attacks

A memorial service honoring the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks will be held tonight at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. Daniels Family Funeral Services presents the event from 6 to 7 p.m. CIA veteran Charles Banks will speak. The service is free and open to the public.

Testimony describes night officer killed in New Mexico

Barbara Meyer a veteran paramedic testified about aiding Rio Rancho police officer Gregg Benner who died after a Memorial Day 2015 shooting near a strip mall at Memorial Day 2015. Jurors heard from witnesses. no one identified Andrew Romero as the shooter in the first degree murder case.

Pit bulls put down after mauling service dog

Two escaped pit bulls disrupted a Rio Rancho neighborhood on August 30, attacking a German shepherd in a yard and mauling a retired military service dog. Animal Control captured one dog on the scene. the other was cornered after a high speed chase through Christine Drive in Vista Hills. The service dog, serving in three tours, was left in critical condition.

Idalia road project延期 into November for large section

Rio Rancho officials warn the Idalia Road reconstruction may miss its month end deadline and push into November. Anidemarie Garcia cites rain and utility relocations by PNM and CenturyLink as causes. The project, part of a $7.5 million contract awarded last year, includes a two lane to divided highway upgrade with bike lanes and storm drainage.
