Pres A baseball camp under the Lights with Swihart and Walker
The Rio Rancho High School RRHS stadium hosts a three day baseball camp on Wednesday Oct 7 from 6 to 10 pm. RRHS coaching staff and varsity players lead four hours of skills training plus a meet and greet with Blake Swihart and Josh Walker. Camp fee is 50 dollars per camper and includes an autograph and photo. Registration opens Sept 15 at the Rio Rancho Baseball School site and forms will be available at the stadium and USSSA events.

ENMU honors two local athletes as Student-Athletes of the Week
Former Cleveland multi sport star Courtney Lawson starred for the Greyhound volleyball team at the Britkare Lady Bull Classic posting 18 kills and 14 digs in a win over Lubbock Christian. Melissa Moxley led the women's soccer attack with six shots, five on goal, including the game tying score in a double overtime draw at Lubbock Christian after opening season at Southern Nazarene.

Janes Lance Emerson of Albuquerque captured his first Scratch Series title at Jenpins & More on Labor Day. He beat Mike Riley of Los Lunas after a loss in the first final, then rolled nine straight strikes to finish with 278 and a 65-pin win. Riley bowled eight matches, including a 569 total, the high for 16 years, as Emerson posted a finals record six game average over 250 and earned $600.

Through Thursday's high school matches three city programs went winless. Los Alamos defeated Cleveland 1-0 in the Academy tournament first round as Jeff Smith dove for a penalty kick.
