Rio Rancho Center Wins Silver Quality Award
Rio Rancho Center a Genesis HealthCare skilled nursing center at 4210 Sabana Grande Ave SE has been named a 2015 Silver Achievement in Quality Award recipient by AHCA NCAL. The program honors excellence in long term and post-acute care with bronze silver and gold levels and will be presented at the AHCA NCAL convention in San Antonio Texas October 4 7.

Ernest Garcia, a U S Army veteran from Rio Rancho, received the Eagle Talon Hero Lifetime Achievement Award for Vietnam era heroism as a door gunner and decades of veteran service. He leads VFW District 2 and serves in American Legion Post 13 and DAV Chapter 5, with the Oct 17 ceremony at American Legion Post 13. His wife Annabelle will accept the Hero Caregivers Award.

New Mexico Secures $850k Yearly Grant for Overdose Prevention
The New Mexico Department of Health will use an $850,000 per year four year CDC grant to expand prescription drug overdose prevention. The program, Prescription Drug Overdose: Prevention for States, funds enhanced monitoring, provider education, and new surveillance and public awareness efforts. Partners include the Board of Pharmacy and Workers Compensation Administration to reach high burden communities.
