Water reuse price sparks debate over city costs and golf club fate

City officials weigh a reduced reuse water rate of 33 cents per 1,000 gallons versus a proposed 1.24 dollar rate four times higher that would cost about 240,000 annually to offset future infrastructure. Critics call it corporate welfare while supporters cite business help. Club Rio Rancho faces financial strain with tens of thousands in monthly losses and a 140,000 lien, yet officials note turning off reuse water would not resolve delinquent bills. Browne proposes selling the North 9 to Pulte Homes to fund payments, while NMA cautions legal action and resident lawsuits if the sale proceeds.
