Lane Closures Planned for Southern NM 528
Motorists should expect lane closures on Southern Boulevard and NM 528 this week. The westbound right lane from NM 528 to Pinhurst Road and the outside left turn lane onto Southern will close Monday through Wednesday for manhole excavation and construction. Thursday and Friday work runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of Lift Station No. 10 relocation to improve wastewater routing. The city secured a $5 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan to fund the project, repaid through utility revenues.

Planning board rejects SandRidge zoning near Rio Rancho
The Sandoval County Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6-0 to deny Sand Ridge Energy's zone change request for a two acre oil exploratory and production site west of Rio Rancho citing insufficient information in the county map amendment guidelines. The denial follows hours of public comment from more than 40 speakers and will go to the Sandoval County Commission for possible action next month.

UNM West health sciences center seeks bond inclusion
With three weeks left in the legislative session UNM officials press lawmakers to add the UNM West health sciences center to the statewide general obligation bond measure. The Rio Rancho governing body pledged 12 million in HEGRT revenues toward the project hoping for 10 million more from a state capital outlay GO bond. The center was named a university priority by UNM’s board of regents in August. Senate Bill 122 lists GO bond projects but omits UNM West’s proposal.

Reuse water rate reset for FY 2016 17
City council approves a $1.24 per 1 000 gallons reuse water rate for fiscal year 2016 17 with a 4 1 vote. Zone change sought for golf course North 9
Rhett Browne filed an application to rezone the North 9 holes of Club Rio Rancho for residential use. Pulte Homes plans to buy the 67 acre site, closed in 2013, for 180 upscale homes in escrow at 3.2 million dollars. Browne says the move could pay off 3 million in loans, keep the club open, and save homeowners up to 100 million in lost property values.
