Rams Split First Two 1-6A Games In Tight District Play

Rio Rancho High School boys basketball extended their 1-6A schedule as they lost 70-66 at Volcano Vista after holding a late lead. David Cormier led WVHS with 29 points as Caleb Dixon added 16. Brady Patterson scored 23 for the Rams who sank late free throws to stay within reach. The Hawks opened fourth quarter with an 8-0 run and finished 1-1 in district play.

Shantelle Allen scored all 7 first half points as Rio Rancho stayed within two at halftime and throughout the second half before narrowly missing a final 3-pointer. Bucking on the Rio Grande heads to Santa Ana Star Center

The Delta event Bucking on the Rio Grande, a six stop CBR tour, comes to Santa Ana Star Center this Saturday. World Champion Jeff Hedeman oversees the two hour show featuring 24 riders with top 12 advancing to a semifinal and a $30,000 prize pool.
