Storm open baseball season Saturday in Rio Rancho
The Observer surveys area coaches as Cleveland High coach Shane Shallenberger leads off. The Storm went 19-10 last season, beat Gadsden in the first playoff round, then fell to Eldorado 5-2 in a Class SA quarterfinal at Isotopes Park. Highlights include a tight finish for district places among Volcano Vista, Rio Rancho and Cleveland High. The team returns players Neil Evans, Brandon Larson, Vince Aragon, Justice Jackson, Landry Hayes, Mikal Rojas, Riley Peterson, with newcomers Kiris Chapman and others. Aiming for consistency and mental prep, the plan centers on work ethic and daily improvement, with assistants Lardizabal, Iyler, Ostrowsky, Garza, and Budagher rounding out the staff.
